Even health problems like diabetes, any other infection, heart or circulation problems make one less eligible fr the operation.   What are the different types of liposuction techniques? There are five main types of liposuction techniques that are followed by surgeons all around the world. However, techniques such as 'dry liposuction' have become obsolete and are hardly used today. Techniques like wet liposuction, super-wet liposuction, tumescent and Laser assisted liposuction are followed and practiced today.   Will there be a dressing? Yes there will be a dressing, one should get the dressings changed again and again as the fluid drains. After some three days, self-adhesive bandages are sufficient and proper dressing isn't needed. Precautions before the liposuction treatment One must take care that one should not have any anticoagulants, two weeks before the surgery. Smoking must be strictly avoided for at least two months after the surgery.   Do I have to stay overnight after the treatment? Mostly the patients are allowed to go home that very day unless and until they haven't been given anesthesia.   What are the side effects of liposuction? There might be some numbness after the procedure which can last for few months, bruises subside within two weeks. Swellings take time to fade and can even take as long as two months.   How long before I can see the changes? The changes can be seen from first six months after the treatment.   When can I return to work? Patients are usually able to return to work within two weeks. After the surgery, one must care to drink enough water and avoid heating pads. However, today people have started seeing the treatment of liposuction as an alternative to exercise and diet which isn't right at all. One should know that it isn't a weight loss method and shouldn't be treated in that respect.
